OUCH AND ACHOO!

After a fairy long history of headaches (some sinus, some migraines),

and general just feeling washed out and tired, I finally went to the doctor in early May for some allergy tests to see what exactly is bothering me and if there was anything that could be done about the offensive allergens.  Sure enough, it was determined that I was allergic to ALL trees that are prevalent in our region except oaks, and a bunch of molds and fungus whose names I can’t pronounce or spell.
The solution:
shotxs (1)

You got it!  Shots.  Two of them every other day.  One for the airborne allergens and one for the molds.  The needles aren’t as big as the one in the photo from the Microsoft Clip Art website.  Fortunately, after 3 days of training by a nurse, I am able to do the injections at home by myself.  In the belly fat no less.  Easy as pie.  I was a little apprehensive at first about sticking myself.  I’m have a pretty high tolerance for that sort of pain.  I’ve stuck myself with hand sewing needles and pins that hurt worse than the syringes used with these shots.  Even accidentally sewed my index finger in the sewing machine one time.  Now that hurt!

It will be at least three months, I am told, before I see any benefit, and probably a year before I have full benefit of the injections.  I am willing to keep it up if it gives me some much needed relief.

I have some food allergies as well, most of which I’ve discovered on my own.  For instance, when you get a horrible headache after eating pickles or anything with vinegar, it’s not hard to figure out.  So 'ixna on the pickles-a'.

And I just love tart, vinegary things like salad dressing, mustard, BBQ sauce, and dill pickles.  Life is cruel sometimes.

P.S.:  By the way, my hair is totally grey, not blond, so you know those pictures are not of me.  More Microsoft clip art.  Cool stuff!

  1. Believe it or not, MY DOG gets these injections! He's been on the desensitizing injections for about 1 1/2 years. Used to be every 2 weeks, now it's once a month. HUGE improvement! He rarely flares up. (he's allergic to mold, grass...yeah grass! cedar, juniper, and dust mites!) I wish you success with yours!
