“TEARS FOR TEXAS” AND “QUILTS ON THE BAYOU”

The third block of Barbara Brackman’s Civil War Quilt BOW is called “Tears for Texas.”  This one almost brought tears for Donna in Texas.  I had to be extra careful in constructing this one but it did manage to come together with patience and concentration.  It was that 7/16” cutting measurement that had me worried but even though my rulers are in 1/8th inch increments, I made an educated guess and it seemed to work out.

Texas Tears

Mr. QBG and I went on our annual pilgrimage to Jefferson, Texas for the “Quilts on the Bayou” quilt show.  He is an angel to let me celebrate my birthday this way every year.  As always, it was a really nice show although we missed the Bonnie Blue Quilts gals since they are cutting down on their future quilt show travels.  Since we are on the subject of Civil War blocks or quilts or whatever, today I’m sharing some of the quilts from the show that were related to the CW theme.

Unfortunately I did not get photos of the signage so I don’t know the titles or maker’s names.

The Best of Show was truly a winner.  The applique and quilting was exquisite.  Those hundreds of little circles to hand applique would have driven me batty.  Or should I say battier than I already am?  If I remember correctly and the photos are not decieving my eyes, the tiny circles were stuffed as well.

I’ll share more quilt show photos with you later.

Until then, keep on stitching,
