THE CIVIL WAR SAMPLER BOOK

Imagine my surprise when I opened the package delivered today and found this:

civil war sampler 2012

Barbara Brackman’s newest book is out, published by C & T Publishing.  It features the Civil War history and quilt blocks patterns that made up her weekly Civil War Quilt blog in 2011.  After I ripped open the envelope, the next thing I did was flip through the pages to find my three blocks that she chose to be part of this book.  On page 4 was my “Catch Me If You Can” block.

Then on page 42, the “Ohio Star.”

Finally, the last one, “Stars and Stripes” found on page 96.

There are 50 blocks in all, illustrated mostly by photos chosen from the Flickr group containing pictures of each completed block each week.

Barbara’s inscription on the inside cover means a lot to me, although I think we should thank her for this wonderful Internet project.

Barbra is my hero!  She emphasizes women's perspectives within historical events, a point of view often overlooked by others.

Although I haven’t quilted my top yet, but here is how I put it together.  It was so big I wasn’t able to photograph it well.

Thanks for the ride Barbara.  It has been a blast!
