After seeing the block made out of the William Morris prints from Barbara Brackman’s fabric line with Moda, I went on a big ole buying spree via internet. The block is HERE at Connie’s Crafts Blog. It just blew me away!
So I grabbed my credit card and fired up the internet for a Wm. Morris shopping spree. Click HERE to see photos from Moda if you are not familiar with this fabric line. My photos don’t do the collection justice.
“Art nouveau” is late 19th and early 20th century style of art, architecture, and decoration that used stylized natural forms and flowing lines. There there a lots of floral motifs big and small such as what is represented in this fabric line.
Because I love and collect black cat items, I happen to have an art nouveau poster reproduction in my office called “Chat Noir” which is French for black cat.
He doesn’t look very friendly does he? But he's a "cool cat."
I love, love, this fabric--------my credit card might be in danger this evening.
ReplyDeleteI am a great fan of the Morris fabrics. Barbara's fourth Morris collection in three years will hit the shops in November. Look forward to seeing your blocks week by week....you are so diligent in sewing on time.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fabrics Donna! Your blocks will look so beautiful made from these fabrics!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna! I too love Art Nouveau and William Morris Fabric. I just bought more, so I could do the layout I designed on EQ (simple alternating blocks). Love the poster, my DD has one, and I have a T-shirt based on it. Looking forward to the new line in November.
ReplyDeleteHe's a very cool cat ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like Morris designs too - did a study of them about 5 years back with an applique group. I'm hoping to finish the hand quilting this winter.
Love your purchases!
