QUILTS MADE MODERN BOOK REVIEW

CT Publishing asked me to review this book and I gladly agreed.  After posting a review on Amazon and Barnes & Noble several weeks ago I forgot to post it on my blog.  Here it is.

If you are interested in the “modern” quilt movement, this book is a good place to start. The authors Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr illustrate design principles and vision for modern quilts like no others. They encourage use of colors outside one’s comfort zone. Even is a color is one you just hate, when used in context with other colors it may be the perfect addition. There is also in depth discussion of the various looks one achieves from different threads.

There are ten projects in this book – 9 regular quilts with multiple sizes and one appliqué wall hanging – each showing three alternate color combinations for each one. That I like. There is so much background on design, fabric, technique, quilting, etc., this book would be perfect for a beginner but contains lots of interesting information for the more intermediate quilter.

  1. Hi Donna!
I have and really enjoy this book!
I find the projects are ideal for new quilters such as my DIL yet perfect for "modern" style quilters of all skill levels.

I think it's wonderful that you are doing book reviews! It sure makes the decision process a bit easier when on the fence about purchasing a new quilting book!
