PENNSYLVANIA QUILTS GALORE

Ann Hermes recently sponsored a give-away on her blog, NOTES FROM THE QUILT LAB and Quilting Bear Gal (me) won!  The prize was a booklet from the Packwood House Museum of their Pennsylvania Quilts II:  Patterns and Variations.

This booklet just whets my appetite for the upcoming Lone Star Quilt Study Group quilt study day in Waxahachie, Texas on August 25th featuring late 19th-century Pennsylvania quilts from Carolyn Miller’s collection.  Ms. Miller will talk about her collection and its recent exhibition at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, CO. She will exhibit these quilts and briefly describe her interest in and collection of late nineteenth-century Pennsylvania quilts.  You can see three of Ms. Miller's PA quilts by clicking HERE to visit the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum Current Exhibits page.

I am so looking forward to this event and the beautiful PA quilts that will be shared with us.  One hundred people are signed up to attend so it will be a full house!

I thank Ann Hermes for the wonderful booklet on Pennsylvania Quilts from the Packwood House Museum.  Since the Packwood Museum is located in Lewisburg, PA, it’s not likely that I will be able to see them in person.

Let me leave you with this quote:  Really I don't dislike to cook, but what you cook is eaten so quickly.  When you sew, you have something that will last to show for your efforts.~Elizabeth Travis Johnson   These antique quilts attest to the truth of her comment.
