SERENDIPITY QUILTS by Susan Carlson Review

Ever since I saw author and quilt designer Susan Carlson on The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims last year, I knew I wanted to see more of her outstanding work.  Visit Amazon.com to preview contents and for additional photographs.

This book published by CT Publishing beautifully illustrates her techniques.  Her designs require a lot of diverse giblets of fabric to collage the designs.  The patterns she provides focus on nature (fish, insects, birds, animals) and the celestial world (suns and moons).  The photos of each step are clear and detailed.  This is fabric art at it's best.

I can’t wait to try Carlson’ methods on a moon design pattern found in this book. Judging from all the scraps, bits and pieces of fabric I cleaned up and saved during the big sewing room smack down last week, there should be plenty of giblets of material to work with.
