GOLDEN, COlORADO - QUILT HEAVEN

One of the most important stops on our Colorado vacation was in Golden, where we visited the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum.  Pictures are on this Smilebox slideshow.  Just click on the arrow.  Please forgive the photographer.  Some of the photos are a bit blurred or not well framed.  The lighting was great for showing quilts but not for taking pictures.

While in Golden, we also visited the Creative Crafts' Group office, home of Quilter's Newsletter, Quiltmaker Magazine, McCalls Quilting and other major quilting and sewing magazines.

In the reception area of the office, they have a gallery where they exhibit quilts from some of their publications.  At this time they had quilts made from blocks featured in  Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volume 3.    Here are just a few.

Rain Dance by Judy Laquidara
Block # 283

Judy Laquidara has a wonderful blog called Patchwork Times that I've been reading for several months now.  She's a very creative quilter who loves vibrant colors, just moved from Missouri to my home state Texas, and likes to raise chickens.

Black Pearl by Monique Dillard
Block # 267

Spinning Star by Lynn Roddy Brown

Twister by Christina McCourt
Block #286

These are just a few of the many quilts on display which made the visit there all worthwhile.  There are just a few more things I want to show you about our trip, but that will be next time.

  2. I've been to Golden a number of times because my mother-in-law lives in Denver -- and my husband travels to Denver for work. Isn't the museum wonderful? It's worth the drive every time. I follow you on my Google reader and enjoy your blog. Thanks!

  4. Thanks for posting the picture. So nice to get to see it hanging! I'm still adjusting to life here in your home state. The welcoming committee of geckos that live in my basement are a nice added touch! :)
