IT’S TOO HOT!

You would think that because it is so hot outside in north central Texas (right now it is 101 degrees but with the humidity the heat index is 109 degrees),  that I would spend that time wisely sewing in cool comfort under the air conditioning  inside.  Just barely.  I’ve worked on odds and ends but have nothing significant to show for it yet.  I made more Red & White Crossroads blocks and started on the Civil War Quilt block of the week (Barbara Frietchie Star) with some half square triangles made but contemplating whether to use the ones I’ve made or change out some of the fabric.  Decisions, decisions.

Arrows decisions

If you check out the flickr Civil War Quilt Board, you will see all the wonderful combinations and styles of fabric used by others for each block.  Lots of fussy cutting, directional fabric layouts, etc.  It’s almost intimidating.  But I shall persevere!

Sweetie and I had a busy weekend.  First, Sweetie’s boss took us out to dinner with another couple at Bella Italia West restaurant in Fort Worth where I had the best raspberry cheesecake for desert.  It was heavenly!  And the meal wasn’t shabby either.  I had a fettuccine alfredo  with artichokes, onions and mushrooms.  Sweetie had the trout special.  Am I making you hungry yet?

The next night, we met my in-laws at Pappadeaux’s Restaurant in Fort Worth.  This Cajun-style seafood restaurant serves unusual foods most Texans have never eaten, such as fried alligator tails, crawfish, etouffe’ – a blend of seafood, sausage, rice and spices in a brown sauce/gravy.  However, I stuck with the spicy shrimp cocktail

and a Greek salad.  Yummmmmmmmyyyyyyy!  The shrimp cocktail looks as good as it tasted, plus I had plenty of iced tea nearby to help cool down the spicy flames.  Delish!

After all that rich food Friday and Saturday, by Sunday we were eating plain leftovers out of the refrigerator.  The normal, plain food that I cook.  Oh well---- back to reality.

  1. My sis lives in Carrolton, and I don't envy either one of you with the HOT weather. I fear it is coming our way on Thursday....It has been several years since I went to Papadeaux...but I loved it! Love your banner...how did you do that?
