Kathleen Tracey, author of three quilting books (Prairie Children and Their Quilts, American Doll Quilts, and Remembering Adelia) is currently working on her next book. Discussion on her Yahoo group Small Quilt Talk got around to signature blocks and Kathy had a brainstorm. She asked group members to make a signature block, using her instructions, to forward to her for use in a little quilt design for her new book. She wanted a center medallion of sorts, and asked if we would make star blocks as well. It was strictly a volunteer thing but response thus far is good. The two blocks I made for her are pictured above.
If you like small/doll sized traditional quilts with a little history thrown in, you will love Kathy’s books. This new book won’t be out until 2011 so we have to wait with great anticipation!
Old St. Nick is pin-basted and ready for quilting. I’m stitching in the ditch in most places, but pondering what to quilt in the background and border. He’s really a handsome fellow.
Donna: nice blocks. I'm sure Kathy will have a great time with all of our blocks. Now, must say how much I like your Father Christmas. Your fabric choices are wonderful. How big is he? I need a bigger wall hanging for my seasonal quilt holder. (Just a regular holder which I change regularly based on the seasons for the most part.) Any way, yours is great and would look great on my wall, hint, hint! B.
