I’VE GOT TO STOP BUYING NEW FABRIC

Ever since Barbara Brackman’s Civil War Reunion fabric line appeared on the market, I have been hankering for major yardage of the red paisley leaves print.

The charm pack I bought a couple of months ago only whetted my appetite for more.  Resistance was useless.  I ended up ordering five yards of this print.  The UPS truck delivered it yesterday and my heart sang!

Isn’t it funny how we fabriholic-types almost hyperventilate with excitement over luscious cotton quilting fabric?  My Sweetie keeps telling me I can not buy one of EVERYTHING.  Little does he know I don’t even begin to buy one out of 1,000 choices or 2,500 or—all the fabric collections out there.

While I was ordering that fabric, I came across the 108” backing fabric from the Civil War Chronicles fabric line on sell for $5.99 per yard.  It usually sells for $15.99 per yard, so I couldn’t pass up that deal.  Especially since it featured a moon and stars motif.

I only bought 1/2 yard of the Chronicles fabric – but it’s backing fabric therefore wider.  It’s almost double what a half yard would be on regular 44” fabric.  Don’t hold me to any math.  Just know it’s much more than it sounds.

Both of my new fabrics may appear in future Civil War Quilt blocks of the week.   Can’t wait to use them.
But first, back to the red and white Crossroads quilt flying geese!

  3. I couldn't pass this red fabric up either - purchased 3 yards at a local quilt shop. I hope that's enough. Maybe I should go back for more! lol

  5. My feelings are the same about the fabrics. I used the Cronicles fabric in block 2 and I'm planning on using the paisley fabric (blue, I think) as a wide border on my BB Civil War BOW quilt.

I always enjoy seeing your blocks, and now I'll be watching to see what you do with your new fabric.
